Beyond Separation – A New Category in Nutrient Recovery

ProTecLin is not a conventional screw press separator. It is a dual-stage nutrient recovery system engineered to transform digestate and slurry into structured, value-enhanced fertiliser products.

While traditional separators reduce volume, ProTecLin increases value. Through integrated conditioning and targeted nutrient precipitation, it enables controlled capture of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium within a compact industrial platform.

Positioned between standalone mechanical separators and large-scale nutrient recovery plants, ProTecLin introduces a new processing category — delivering structural process transformation without industrial plant complexity.

About the Producer

ProTesCa is recognized as a precision-driven German engineering partner in the field of separation and biogas technology. Built on deep technical know-how and rigorous manufacturing standards, the company delivers OEM-grade components developed for performance, durability, and exact fit. Its core portfolio includes high-precision screen baskets engineered to be fully compatible with all well-known separator manufacturers such as Bauer, FAN Separator and other leading brands in the market.

Every component is produced in Germany according to strict quality specifications and industrial tolerances, ensuring seamless integration into existing systems. While manufacturing is executed through a specialized German production partner, ProTesCa owns the engineering standards, quality framework, and OEM specifications behind each product. The result is a reliable, German-made solution that combines engineering precision, operational longevity, and consistent separation performance for demanding agricultural and industrial applications.

Dual-Stage Architecture Explained

ProTecLin operates through a structured three-phase process:

Stage 1 – Mechanical Separation

Initial solid-liquid separation produces a structured fraction and prepares the biomass stream for controlled treatment.

Integrated Conditioning Unit

Precise additive dosing enables targeted nutrient precipitation under controlled process parameters.

Stage 2 – Enrichment Separation

The enriched biomass stream is separated again, yielding nutrient-concentrated solid and liquid fertiliser fractions.

This dual-stage configuration enables nutrient structuring rather than simple separation.

Industrial Nutrient Valorisation Instead of Volume Reduction

Traditional separators focus on dewatering.

ProTecLin focuses on nutrient valorisation.

By capturing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in structured fractions, the system enables:

• Fertiliser-grade output

• Improved nutrient balance management

• Reduced dependency on mineral fertiliser purchases

• Enhanced compliance positioning

This shifts digestate handling from waste management to product generation.

Economic Implications at Plant Scale

At an investment level of approximately €179,000, ProTecLin is a strategic capital decision.

Unlike standard separators in the €12,000–90,000 range, ProTecLin does not merely optimise logistics — it restructures economic output.

Depending on plant scale and nutrient content, the system can contribute through:

• Fertiliser substitution savings

• Marketable nutrient products

• Reduced disposal or transport costs

• Improved regulatory positioning

The economic impact increases with substrate volume and nutrient concentration.

ProTecLin is not an operational tweak.

It is an infrastructure-level optimisation.

Designed for Long-Term Infrastructure Strategy

ProTecLin is engineered for operators who view digestate and slurry not as waste streams, but as recoverable assets.

Applicable in:

• Agricultural biogas plants

• Large-scale livestock operations

• Wastewater treatment facilities

• Industrial biomass processing environments

The system integrates into existing process chains while introducing a new revenue and compliance dimension.

Why There Is No Direct Market Comparison

Existing solutions fall into two categories:

  1. Mechanical separators
  2. Large industrial nutrient recovery installations

ProTecLin bridges this structural gap.

No conventional separator integrates dual-stage mechanical separation with controlled nutrient precipitation in this configuration.

It does not compete within an existing category.

It defines a new one.
